John, I'm entirely on your side -- and amused. This rush to judgement is
hilarious; people in 1996 are positively eager to be seen as all-encompassing
and all-enlightened. Your initial response was high spirited, in a minor key,
and should have aroused little reaction. I'm sorry that you're the butt of
