Sorry for this belated *thank you!* to everyone on the list who responded on
list and off to my Paradox question. We're starting to move our collection
into a new facility and I hadn't been able to check on *anything* the past
few days...  An answer off-list helped immensely, and I think part of the
problem is the jargon used by a number of databases. I've worked with dBase,
Focus 5.0 and a couple of others as well as some mail-merge programs, so I
got used to using "merge" for more than one table or file and "add" for
inputing data into a single table. I won't waste a lot of your bandwidth
with the details, except that, like most computer-related things, everyone
has something they call everything.
