The High Desert Museum, in Bend, Oregon has created a large display
replecating various aspects of early Oregon history...an outdoor trail
scene, a Chinese grocery store complete with sound track of old style
Mandarin speaking gentlemen playing Majong, etc. These sets are all
complete with not only the appropriate sounds, like crickets and the men's
voices, but the aromas....cool musty air, the smell of spices and baskets in
the mercantile. It is very effective at sending one into an emotional state
appropriate to the setting. This information is purely from the visitor's
stand point. The museum can be reached at [log in to unmask], their web site
