Indeed MONZ have been doing studies in this area...I think Christine
Fitzgerald would be a great contact. You can reach her at

She will also be able to provide you with information on the Visitor
Research conference she attended in Sydney in 1995, organised by Carol
Scott from the Powerhouse Museum. Incidentally I believe Carol is now
convening a Visitor Research Special Interest Group (if I'm not mistaken)
for Museums Australia.
