Chris,
You might want to try museums that either show films on site or are
known for their film archives.  The following three come to mind but
this is far from a complete list:

Museum of Modern Art in NYC
Pacific Film Archives in Berkeley Ca
International Museum of Photography and Film at the George Eastman
House in Rochester NY
