The Southwestern Pennsylvania Heritage Preservation Commission Announces
Immediate AmeriCorps Employment Opportunities
Description: Each AmeriCorps member will take on projects which build
community and agency strength in heritage tourism, encourage economic
revitalization and seek to improve the quality of life in southwestern
Pennsylvania. All positions are full time and last approximately 11 months,
or until the member has completed 1800 hours. Specific needs are in
community planning and organizing, historic preservation, and environmental
assessment.
Number of Positions: 3 to 5
Requirements: Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent
residents and hold a college degree in history/ historic preservation,
landscape architecture, environmental science, community planning,
education, or a related field.
Stipend and Benefits: AmeriCorps members receive a living stipend of $7,945
or $12,000 a year, depending on assignment. There is a $4,725 educational
award payable to an educational institution for further education or
repayment of existing loans, free health insurance and free child care.
Start Date: October 1, 1996
