We have had excellent results using MS ACCESS as a platform and developing
an application dubbed HERA.  It offers a relational data base that is
compatible with all Canadian Heritage Inventory Network standards, is very
durable and flexible, and relatively inexpensive.  The person you should
talk to is Cliff Quinn at the B.C. Museums Association -
