Has anyone out there in museum-land had any experience in starting a
friends/membership program at their institution and/or know of any written
materials on this subject?

I am working on a task force to evaluate a small museum, but none of us has
the background to advise on this topic. The museum currently does not have
such a program, but possibly should.
