Oh my God, it never occurred to me that any kind of institution, be it
collecting or not, should be superior or inferior to others. What I simply
tried to point at is that, among many others, definitions are a tool to
support consistent thinking. They help to avoid basic misunderstandings and
their consequences. On no account they assert ownership of a word but they
mark an intersubjective agreement about its meaning which does not tell
anybody what they should think but what a representative group of people has
agreed.This is, of course, not only a question of museums but of epistemology.
