POSITION AVAILABLE

POSITION TITLE:   Manager of Visitor Services

POSITION PURPOSE:  To administer visitor services for CHS and to
establish excellent customer service as a hallmark of the institution.


PRINCIPAL PERFORMANCE GOALS, 1996-2000:  Develop a plan to:
expand,improve, and unify all services to museum visitors in a single
administrative unit; administer and expand the use of staff, interns, and
volunteers within galleries and other public activities;  develop and
implement a visitor services training program,  administer the daily
visitor-related operation of the building, including admissions,
switchboard, institutional calendar and facility scheduling systems,
public information systems and kiosks, coatcheck, gallery tours, events
and children’s lunchroom, develop and administer an institution-wide
customer service program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Commitment to public service
Commitment to education
Commitment to excellent customer service
Commitment to teamwork

Five to ten years experience in the hospitality industry or customer
service field; five years experience in supervisory positions
Experience working with a broad range of constituencies and a highly
diverse general public
Experience working in teams and managing teams
Experience in developing a visitor service training program

Knowledge of computer technology
Knowledge of current trends and techniques for developing a superb
visitor services staff

Ability to motivate
Ability to plan and manage budgets
Ability to supervise people and to manage a complex programs and projects
Ability to plan and implement new programs
Ability to solve technical, administrative, and personnel problems
creatively
Superior oral and written communication skills
