I wrote the note below a couple of days ago and sent it directly to
andreak, a bit reluctant to send it to the full list as I am a total
list neophyte. I have since spoken to Jacqueline Gijssen who
encouraged me to post the note to the full list. She is not on e-mail
so would have to be contacted by phone or snail mail, but would be
interested in discussion with others doing or thinking of doing
similar work. This morning she told me " We actively collect, we just
     don't own".

     Previous note:

I am new to the museum-1 group. I am not sure exactly what you are
after with "museums without collections", but I do know that the West
Vancouver Museum and Archives is a young museum which is trying to set
itself up as a museum whose collection rests with the residents of the
community. The way I understand it, they want to be aware of what is
in the community so they may borrow it if necessary for an exhibit
etc., but instead of collecting they are trying to educate citizens
about how to care for objects etc.

     The Curator is:

I do not have an e-mail address for her.

     Good luck,

     Anne Landry
