Help with barcodes for museum stores

We are seeking information about barcode printers/software for a small art
museum store.  The store manager is looking for something small (not
hand-held), economical, and that will interface with the inventory software
"Point of Sale Pluse".  She has gotten quotes in the $200.00 range.  Is this
reasonable?  If you use a barcode printer, please let us know what you have
experienced.
