Suxanne,

Are you familiar with the scientific research on marking done here a few
years ago by Steve Williams, when he was Collection Manager for Natural
Science? With the assistance of some of our museum students, he conducted
experiments on different inks to determine which were the best for a
variety of materials and environments. He published the results in the
SPNHC journal, and presented it at the SPNHC meeting in Madrid that year.
The research received national (international) acclaim. He also presented
the research at the Texas Association of Museums (TAM) meeting this past
April. Steve is now at the Strecker Museum at Baylor University, Waco, TX.
He's be glad to add to the discussion of marking. Contact him at
817/755-1111. Say hi for me.
