Em, I store my skis vertically on a ski rack. Ski base to Ski base.
However, those skis that I store are also the ones that I ski on in
the winter. Since the pair at the museum is very old, I would still
recommend that they be
stored vertically, base to base, with a bit of polyethylene foam
separating the bases and a piece of foam on the ground, if they are
standing on the ground. If they must lay horizontally on a shelf or
something, still store them base to base, laying them on the self on
their edges. Make sure there is padding between the one ski and the
other, and padding between the skis and anything they come in contact
with, i.e. the shelf, a rack, the ground.
