I am posting the following to the list for a colleague at my Insitituion:
Paid Summer Internship In Historic Brickmaking:
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Historic Trades Department is offering
paid summer internships in Historic Brickmaking.
This position is designed to expose undergraduates interested in History,
American Studies, Architectural History, or Museum Studies to work in a
large, living history museum.
The interns will assist Colonial Williamsburg in recreating an 18th Century
Brickyard. Working outside in the summer sun, dressed in a colonial costume,
the interns acquire a broad introduction to museums through the view of an
historic trades interpreter. A summer in the Brickyard offers interns
tangible experience to apply to their academic programs.
The Brickmaking Interns will be expected to interpret brickmaking, the
history of the trade, and 18th Century history to visitors of Colonial
Williamsburg. The interns will also be trained and will be expected to
producing bricks using 18th Century tools and techniques. The interns will
