Try contacting the Association of Railroad Museums (ARM), their member
list is one good source. The always have an ad restoration magazines.

There is also an annual publication called AIR 'The North American Steam
Train Guide' which include most museums plus a lot of trains (not just
steam) ourist railroads and club-museums.
