As an architect who does museum programming, planning, and design for new
and renovated museums, I am quite interested in this subject.  One recent
success in the area of seating in circulation space is the so-called
"husband  bench"  I  included in an alcove at the entrance to the museum
shop in our additions to the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego.
