To the attorney who posted the above.
You might want to try calling Susan Rothschild, an attorney who runs
the Cultural Institutions office at the New York City Department of
Cultural Affairs. She used to be in-house counsel and was responsible
for negotiating and updating public/private partnerships with museums
in New York City. In her new capacity she has different
responsibilities. Now New York is different than everywhere, but
there are 30+ museums with arrangements that could be described as you
have described the pending setup in your area. These range in size
from the multi-gazillion dollar Met Museum to 1/2 million dollar
operating budget museums, so...
These agreements adress union, pension, funding, accounting, board
structure, etc, etc. I think that they are public record, so she
should be able to share them with you. She is very nice, and tell her
that Eric Siegel from the New York Botanical Garden says hi.
