Before this thread evaporates, I'd like to suggest another
paid internship opportunity for current students (undergrad
or grad) to consider.
Through a somewhat circuitous funding loop, the National
Park Service and the General Services Administration offer
paid summer internships in the Washington, DC area through
the National Council for Preservation Education. More
expansive than the organization's title might suggest,
internships are available at a variety of organizations and
in a number of professions, including archaeology, historic
preservation, museum curatorship, collections care and
management, registrar work, public art management,
ethnography, landscape preservation, etc.
While I believe one does need to be affiliated with an
educational institution to apply, I know that we've found
ways to keep interns hired through this vehicle for
additional semesters. It's too late to apply for this
summer's program, but we've attracted so many great interns
to the Art-in-Architecture Program through this that I would
be happy to send anyone a copy of this summer's application
announcement. Off-list replies only, please.
