For advice re the medical equipment, get in touch w/ the Bakken Library
of Electricity in Life, 3537 Zenith Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota
55416; (612)927-6508.  They have a first-rate collection of medical
devices through the 1940s, and their curatorial staff is knowledgeable
and helpful.

The New York Academy of Medicine may also be helpful in this area; I'm
not certain, though, as I've not had direct experience with them myself.
