Some time ago I asked for your ideas about how a small museum,
with no paid professional staff, could get more friends to
do the work.

I just heard that a local newspaper got hold of the wrong
end of the stick, and blazoned across it's front page that
the museum was to close (rather than that the friends organization
was dying).  A large number of local people turned up at the
advertised meeting, and voiced their concerns about the collections
and buildings ... and stayed on to volunteer.  The (volunteer)
co-ordinator of volunteers once again feels that life is
worth living.
