The author you are referring to is Carol O'Biso who was the registar for the
U.S. tour of Te Maori. Carol now resides in Auckland, New Zealand. As with
many indigeous cultures, Maori believe in the spiritual embodiement of a
taonga ( treasure). We are very fortunate in my own museum be be the guardians
of the Tainui taonga. Tainui being the "tribe" who reside in the Waikato
region.
