Greetings.
Ein-Hod Artist village
The Artists Village of Ein Hod (the largest in Israel),
lies South of Haifa
Situated on the side of the Carmel range
overlooking the Seacoast (of the Mediterranean
Sea).
In 1953, Marcel Janco (One of the founders of the
Zurich (Switzerland) "DADA" Group) brought 20 artists
together to found the Village.
Amid the natural park setting of the Carmel and
keeping the character of the original setting,
the artists restored and built homes and studios.
It has now grown to 120 artists who live and work
full-time in Ein Hod.
Ein Hod has no ideological affiliation.
It is organised as a "Limited Collective", with the
individual artist participating in the Gallery where
representative work of all members is shown and
sold.
There is a restaurant/Cafe and an out door
amphitheater.
There is also accommodation and workshops/
studios for visiting artists.
The Marcel Janco "DADA" Museum is open to the
public - has a permanent exhibition of the work of
Marcl Janco - and also has special
exhibitions of outside artists.
The village is self-sustaining.
The village and the artists studios and workshops are
open to the public throughout the year.
