To Robert MacKimmie's message I would just like to say, once again, Amen
Brother. I would also like to once again emphasize the importance of using
these resources in small institutions, even if you can't imagine being
connected to the outside world in the foreseeable future. So don't think
because you are a small collection, with a small staff, that you don't need
all this "highfalutin stuff", because you do. Standardized thesauri, it
is the way to go, large or small, computer database or a card catalog in
a shoe box, volunteer staff or a professional cast of a thousand.
Standardized thesauri -- I'm sure Dana Scully would use it. Mary Mannix
