I teach at a small, liberal arts college and sit on a task force at
the local museum which is trying to establish a closer relationship
with that college.
Our task force has set a goal of getting more professors to use
the museum as a teaching/learning resource. As part of an educational
sub-committee then, a group of us are planning a half-day event for
faculty at the museum to stimulate thinking about integrating the
collection and facilities into curricula.
I know many of you have been involved in similar endeavors. I envision
this event as inter-disciplinary, especially asking those who are not
perhaps as obviously inclined to use the collection (this is BTW a
museum collection of fine arts and some anthropological artifacts), to
think "out side the box" and see how the collection could be approached
from the sciences, for example.
Could I hear from people who have tried to get faculty more involved...
How did/do you do this? What works and what doesn't?
Many thanks in advance.
