A traveling exhibit is currently under development at the Rogers
Historical Museum (Rogers, Arkansas). Entitled "Let's Play," the
exhibit will look at amusements, games, sports, hobbies, and play
activities at the turn-of-the-century.
We're looking for photographs depicting the following pre-
World War I activities:
families playing lawn or parlor games
children playing at recess
children playing marbles
fitness classes
bicycling
people working at hobbies (e.g., embroidery, wood-burning)
women playing sports
early professional sports (e.g., boxing, baseball)
If anyone has photographs depicting these activities and is
interested in giving or selling us copy prints for the exhibit,
please send a photocopy of the photograph(s) and information on costs
to the address below. Museums which lend photographs to the exhibit
are eligible for a $100 price reduction on the rental cost for the
exhibit.
