It is not ironic to me.  These listservs and the communities they spawn are
new phenomena to most of us.  It is entirely understandable that the
discussion drifts from time to time to the mechanics of communicating.
When automobiles were new, drivers spoke about pistons, brakes, petrol and
pneumatiques, about Plymouths and Pierce Arrows.
