Drawing from my own field, I'd suggest that Microsoft and/or Corbis could
fund studies, symposia, publications, professorships, etc. in the
historical areas of information technologies, communication arts, art
history and image arts, book arts and other arts/technolgies. These could
lead to museum exhibits that have been developed with exhibit planning
software. Collection management and cataloging systems are in great need,
but these back-office applications are not often funded by
publicity-seening organization.

These studies can be interlocked with museum exhibits that are turned into
cd-rom products in which the museum and the Microsoft entity or Corbis will
be partners.

Corbis could develop a policy that offers its entire catalogue at low
resolution levels free of charge to students of all ages. Such a donation
(and one could but a cost on it) would have the added benefit of
encouraging the use of these materials, locating Corbis as the vendor of
preference, with the most well known catalogue and set it up for continued
use by professionals and publishers at regular license rates.

If you choose to present any of the above, do not forget to cite your
sources.
