RE: text and labels

On Tuesday, Trish Downs asked:

        >Does anyone have any good info on or can suggest any literature
        >(books or journal articles, perhaps good ideas from the
        >advertising world?) on text and labels. I am helping to write
        >something for our museum manual. Eyecatching panels and labels,
        >sentence lengths, use of vocab, humour, etc. Any suggestions or
        >help will be greatly appreciated.

Look up Beverly Serrell's book "Making Exhibit Labels" and any of a series of
articles and papers by Judy Rand on the topic. The book was published by ASLAH
and may now be available through AltaMira Press, (805) 499-0721. Judy's
materials have appeared in AZA and AAM conference proceedings among others.

Good luck!
