When I first moved to Washington DC I lived in a dormitory for women on
Capitol Hill called Thompson Markward Hall. You can rent a single room and
the rent includes two meals a day. It is located directly across from the
Hart Senate Office building. I found it to be very safe and very convenient.
I'm not sure what the rent is now but the phone number is (202) 546-3255. I
highly recommend it-there were lots of interns so it's a good way to meet
people. It is a bit old-fashioned-boys can only visit in the "Parlor".

Best of luck
