I interpret this query to mean that Mr. Yochaovsky's interests lie in the
educational models of teaching high-school level students about the basic
chemistry of plastics.
This sounds like a candidate for MATERIALS-L. ;-)
How about it James Martin?
Actually, POLYMER-L, if there is such a List, is probably more appropriate
for this query.
I would recommend the Craft Council Series on "Science For Conservators, Vol.
I" Which gives a very cogent explanation on the science and chemistry of the
materials which objects are made from - anyone who has taken basic chemistry
in high-school can comprehend this text. (I assume that the series is still
in print as I see it listed in the UKIC publications bulletins from
time-to-time).
Otherwise, perhaps there is someone in a science center who has done a
wonderful exhibition on the chemistry of plastics.
I leave the part about, "...the connection to psychologycal effects..." to
my colleagues on Museum-L whom commune with plastics on a more spiritual
level!
Cheers!
