Colleagues,

There were two questions in the "HELP?!" column of the most recent issue of
Spectra, the quarterly magazine of the Museum Computer Network. I wonder
if any of you would care to respond? Please let me know which question you
are responding to. Your answer(s) will be published in the next issue of
Spectra along with your name(s), and relevant information (unless you
specifically ask me not to). The reason for your personal info is to give
you credit for your response and to encourage one-on-one dialogue if any of
Spectra's readers have further questions. I also might edit for spelling,
grammar, clarity, etc.

1. We are just getting interoffice email. Does anyone have any policies
on email etiquette within an institution? Can anyone post anything to
anyone he or she wants? Is Henry allowed to clutter everyone's mailbox
with a notice that he is selling his car? Can the systems administrator
delete my old mail whenever she wants to?

2. We want to digitize images of the objects in our collection, but we
have very few black & white photographs, slides or transparencies to work
from. What medium should we use now to capture the images which will
eventually be digitized?

If you don't have policies for question #1, opinions are also welcome!
Thanks for your HELP!
