Hi everyone,

As several others have indicated, one of the great values of Museum-L is
in its varied and broad postings relating to virtually all aspects of
museology. As a college instructor teaching museology courses in our
Department of History, I value the new ideas to which the list has
introduced me. Although I sometimes don't follow every posting on every
thread, I find that the list has enriched my understanding of museums,
their roles within culture, their problems and prospects, their developing
philosophies, my awareness of current bibliography (thanks again, Anita!),
and on and on and on . . .

I think we need a comprehensive list such as this one. In any event, as
many recent postings have indicated, there are highly specialized lists
already available which relate to the various "splinters" that have been
suggested. Let's not re-invent the wheel.

  Thanks!

    Chris Geist

P.S. As an assignment in this term's graduate introduction course in
museology I am requiring my students to monitor Museum-L. I do this
because this is the most comprehensive list related to museums and should
prove a valuable resource for discussion in the course. No other list
would have served this purpose as well.
