Tom, you mentioned the "upper Midwest" as a region. I have heard that my
part of the Midwest (Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and sometimes
Kentucky depending on who you talk to) referred to as the "old Midwest."
Why is this? (I am a transplant from the Mid-Atlantic region :) )

What exactly is the "Midwest"? We define it for our purposes as a regional
contemporary art center as a radius of 250 miles, which encompasses the five
states listed above plus parts of Wisconsin and a teeny edge of West
Virginia. But the Mid-America Art Association focuses on the Upper Midwest,
while Arts Midwest is our regional service organization. What gives?
Anybody have any suggestions?
