To Mia Llarena and Others Who May Be Visiting Toronto,

There are a number of museums and related sites where important
developments are happening.

Note the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Share Your Reaction Cards and
the Historical Canadian Galleries where Educator Doug Worts and
Curator Denis Reid have come up with some important interpretation
techniques including the Imagination exercise. Kelly McKinley's Off
the Wall Gallery and family programming is also moving to the cutting edge.

At the ROM, the new exhibit of the Maiosaur raises multi-media to a
new museum form (maybe!) and the exhibit on Television just opened is
causing much discussion.

At the Ontario Science Centre, the Information Highway Exhibit is very
interesting and can also be visited on the net. They are also planning
an important exhibition for next May or so "A Question of Truth" which
has involved extensive consultation with a variety of communities as
to their views of science.

We also have the new Bata Shoe Museum which is an interesting
architectural statement and of exhibitry -- the Gift Shop supports
shoe fetishists.

But there is much more!

For more about the Toronto museum community's educational work and
innovation and especially for thoughts about museum visitor
experiences as well as questions of the new technologies, please
e-mail me for contacts.

Happy travelling,
