Mark,
You will not find any or many contemporary artist's works on the net,
until they believe it is safe--copyright-wise.

Also, the GATT treaty which goes into effect on Jan 1 will change the
copyright ownership of museums for European artists.

So in short, it will be tougher for museums to put many images up.

If you want tons of images, check out the Vatican
or Corbis
