What price heritage? was a rather mean-spirited document produced by the
economic rationalists at the Department of Finance, that tried to
rationalise cutting heritage funding because it was not (on their
assusmptions) cost effective.

What value heritage? was the retort to that report and was produced later.
If you want more information on that you can probably contact Daryl McIntyre
at the National Museum of Australia ([log in to unmask])

Another document that you should read is Creative National - the national
cultural policy - probably available form an Australian Embassy near you.
