I recently read two articles in the June 1995 Museums Journal about American
museums' responses to cultural diversity. The articles discussed rethinking
how a museum "reflects and addresses, interprets and represents cultural
diversity" and how museums have dealt with this issue departmentally and
museum-wide. There has been much discussion on this issue, but I know of
only a few examples of this happening in museums which I am familiar with. I
would be interested in hearing how you and your institution have dealt with
this issue, both in the education department and institution-wide. Has
cultural diversity affected your museum? Has there been positive or negative
reactions? Has there been positive or negative changes?
