Several American art museums have what they call "study/storage centers" where o
bjects not in the galleries can be seen. The Art
Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum in New York have
such areas for their collections of American decorative arts. The
Corning Museum of Glass (Corning, NY) and the Strong Museum
(Rochester, NY) also have visible storage, as does Colonial
Williamsburg, I believe. In England, the Sainsbury Centre (Norwich)
comes to mind. Should I remember others, I'll post them.
