I've seen a number of articles from South Carolina newspapers that
quoted SC archaeological officials and writer Clive Cussler, who
was involved in a privately-funded aspect of the project. I
recall some disputatious exchanges in the papers between Cussler
and the archaeological staff, but I have not been following the
latest developments.

The information I saw seemed to indicate that everybody was sure
it was the Hunley. Even given the sources I saw [newspapers],
the people quoted seemed authoritative. Someone on the list who
is currently in South Carolina would be able to give more
definitive information.
