The Harvard University Art Museums seek a Part-time Security Shift
Supervisor for 24 hours per week. Required/Preferred Education, Experience,
Skills: Position requires two years of college and two years of supervisory
experience or a combination of both required; specific experience with
computer-based fire and security (motion detection, access control and
CCTV) systems required; experience in organizing and implementing training
programs; demonstrated skills of personnel supervision, organization,
communication, scheduling, problem-solving, on-the-spot decision-making and
public interaction required; prior museum security experience desirable;
ability to motivate others; subject to an extensive background
investigation which must reveal excellent references, outstanding past
performances, a clean criminal record, and strong physical ability (ability
to respond quickly and immediately to emergency situations is required,
which may include running up multiple flights of stairs quickly).

Duties & Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chief of Security, is
responsible for the training, performance assignment, administration and
deployment of security personnel during their shift (consisting of Central
Station Monitors, entry controllers, patrols, escorts, gallery attendants,
and any HUPD guards used to supplement the HUAM security force); provides
protection of the collections and building occupants by computer, alarm and
CCTV monitoring, base communications, patrols, reporting and the deployment
of security personnel in response to an alarm; provides safety, information
and a controlled environment for the visiting public and all building
occupants. When conditions exist which may jeopardize the safety or
security of the Museums or their collections (in the absence of the Chief
of Security, Administrator for Operations, Deputy Director and Director),
Security Shift Supervisor has the authority to evacuate and/or close a
gallery, a floor, or the entire Museum, and has the immediate
responsibility to notify emergency personnel (the Harvard University
Police, Cambridge Fire Department and/or Cambridge Police Department).
Performs related duties as required.

Note: Security Shift Supervisor must be able to work up to and including 40
hours per week and frequent overtime may be necessary.
