At the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, New York, we have begun to set
marketing goals with the help of a marketing task force, composed of board
members, staff and community professionals.  Specific exhibitions are
targeted for increased marketing, audiences are identified, and attendance
numbers are set for the coming year.  This task force also helps to make
decisions about advertising, both for exhibitions as well as for ancillary
projects such as the restaurant and the gallery store.  Hope this is helpful.
