I work at an archeological museum, the Anasazi Heritage Center run by
the Bureau of Land Management.  About 15% of our total visitation is
people in school groups.  An award-winning 4th grade teacher says she
uses our displays on archeology to teach the scientific method to her
students, using a topic they are naturally interested in
...people.

Others find it a way to reinforce history lessons from the books with
objects, hands-on activities, etc.
