Brian--Re your query for examples of ethnic heritage exhibitions:

"American Encounters" at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian,
focuses on the experiences of Hispanics, Pueblo Indians and (some) Anglos in
New Mexico. There is a popular booklet on the exhibition available for about
$10. There are also related activities in the Hands on History Room. And the
related curriculum kit will be available from Tom Snyder Productions in
Massachusetts at the beginning of March. It is called "Cultural Reporter."

Also at American History is the very successful exhibition, "Field to Factory,"
which deals with African American migration from the South to the North in the
earlier part of this century.

At the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe is the exhibition "Familia
y Fe" which deals with Hispanic life. Not exactly about immigration stories,
but well done.

At the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia is a nice very small exhibition
about immigration and communities in Australia.

The Minnesota Historical Society has been working on a continually developing
exhibition on Minnesota communities.

And I'm working on an exhibition about Southeast Asian American women in the
Washington, DC area that is based on oral history interviews and photographic
documentation....not finished yet...

Good luck--your topic is a stimulating one and it will be rewarding to work
with those communities as you piece together the history, interpretation and
presentation.
