Dear Matt,
 
The Science Center in Acton, MA. has an exhibit that allows kids and
their parents to use tools to take apart things. It is loosely supervised
and requires mandatory use of safety glasses. It is not a very structured
activity and therefore lots of fun! Fred Stein is someone to start with
there. Sorry I don't have their # handy.
