Hi Lydia,
The Lejre Centre is about 30 min rail journey from Copenhagen, and if you
want more info you may FAX them at +45 4648 1405 (director Morten
Meldgaard). Absolutely worth a visit - and don't miss the Viking Ship Museum
in Roskilde which is near by (FAX +45 4632 2115 - Jan Skamby Madsen).
The National Museum open-air museum (Frilandsmuseet, Kongevejen 100, 2800
Lyngby certainly is also a must - more info FAX +45 4285 0893).
In fact, Denmark has a lot of interesting open-air museums - if you have
time and get around, try Den fynske Landsby (rural life) in Odense
(FAX +45 6612 7956), or Den gamle By (urban life) in Aarhus (FAX +45 8676
0687), or Fiskeri- og Sofartsmuseet (maritime life) in Esbjerg (FAX 45 7515
3057), or if you go that far try the little gem in the Scaw, Skagen
Fortidsminder (no fax, tel 45 9844 4760). More ought to be mentioned - this
is just for starters.
Cheers,
Poul
