In response to the query about the type of objects to be
recorded visually, I should explain that the project involved
is one designed to create guidelines for persons charged with
photography or film making but who possess little knowledge
about archaeology or conservation.
 
I have received several helpful suggestions that include
references to rock art recording procedures. This kind of
reference is particularly useful as explicit discussion of
techniques and potential damage to cultural materials is included.
 
Many places in the world are confronted with the same issues
of non-specialized individuals being asked to perform very specialized
tasks; the provision of accurate, essential information about
how to carry out the task and to provide protection to cultural
materials may help to ease this situation.
