I have a question about human hair decorative work. We have two pieces on
loan. One is human hair woven and placed under a crystal, then included in a
beautifully enameled pin. (1 x 3 cm.) Evidently, the hair was from a
deceased person.

A second item is an ornament of elaborately fashioned human hair that could
enhance a plain upswept hairdo. It would have been worn, I suspect, for
special occasions. It measures about 7" H x 4" W x 1" D.

A related item is a ceramic or porcelain human hair saver, receiver, or
keeper. It is two pieces, a bowl and a lid with a hole for the hair to be
stuffed through. Evidently, it received the hair that was stripped from a
comb or brush after grooming. Size is about 4" in Diameter, 3" high,
assembled.

Does anyone out there know about these objects? Thank you for your
assistance.
