At the Dallas Museum of Natural History we're reviewing our policies
regarding the collections of specimens. I'd appreciate postings (or snail
mail copies) of other institutional guidelines for the collections of
living specimens to add to museum collections. I seem to recall that
Denver ran into some serious protests after collecting a mountain lion a
while back. How have other museums tackled this topic
I'd be especially interested in how other museum's have tackled guidelines
for the use of salvaged vs. collected specimens, especially for
non-research purposes (i.e., exhibit or educational use).
