The same claim could possibly be made about lots of REAL exhibits too.
Furthermore, the Museum of Paleontology Web server, which, while
not "in" a museum, but itself a "virtual museum" has quite a bit
of depth and it gets deeper and more integrated all the time.
Really, I think it is spurious to cast  aspersions about all
information technologies so carelessly.
